'Green Globe' Artichoke is a fabulous architectural plant for mixed garden planting as well as being a useful vegetable. It has silvery leaves with large green buds and purple-mauve tufted flowers. Harvest the main bud to encourage growth of secondary buds.  Harvest when about the size of a golf ball and before flowering. Buds are delicious when steamed. 

  • Herbaceous perennial
  • Height 120cm, spread 90cm
  • Silvery leaves, large green heads with thick fleshy scales approx. 10 heads per plant
  • Prefers full sun
  • Grows best in fertile, well drained soil.
  • In cooler areas mulch may be required to offer protection over winter.
  • Ultimately will need replacing once the plant runs out of steam, although division of plants every few years will assist longevity.
  • Pot size - 9cm recyclable pot

Free Local Collection (Newent, GL18)
Prefer to collect? We offer a free Click & Collect service from our Newent nursery. As we are a working specialist herb nursery, visits and collections are strictly by appointment only, so we recommend collection during the following windows:

  • Collection Days: Mondays & Wednesdays
  • Collection Times: 12:30 PM – 2:30 PM

How it works:
Simply select 'Local Pickup' at checkout. We will then contact you to confirm when your order is picked and ready for collection, and which of these dates and times is most convenient for you to meet the growers and collect your plants.
