Houttuynia cordata
Fish Mint
Fish Mint is not actually a mint at all. It is quite attractive with heart shaped leaves and white flowers. Â It is used in Asian cuisine, either fresh or cooked. Â The roots which are long and slender are used as a vegetable for stir fries. Â It has a unique flavour, slightly fishy with a hint of coriander and ginger to try my best to describe it. Â It does thrive in water, so could be invasive, so it may be worth considering containing in a pot to minimise its spread. Â You could also use it to make a tea.
