'Mushroom Plant' is so called due to its mushroom flavoured leaves. Its glossy leaves can be eaten raw in a salad or can be cooked.  The mushroom plant has a crisp texture and is high in vitamin C and iron and higher in protein than mushrooms. It is a bushy plant and is popular in Papua New Guinea. Add towards the end of cooking so as not to loose its texture and appearance. Flowers of mushroom plant are violet blue.
