Valerian is an attractive tall hardy perennial reaching 1.2m ultimately, with tall stems of pinkish white flower heads in Summer. It is fabulous for pollinators. The dried roots may be used as bait for rats. Essential oil from leaves and roots are used as a flavouring commercially. Prolonged use may cause addiction.
