Zebra Mallow is a majestic, exceptionally hardy, fast-growing perennial which produces tall spikes smothered in flowers from mid-summer until the first frost.

Each bloom is a work of art showing pale lavender-pink flowers with dramatic, deep-purple zebra stripes radiating from the centre. It is a non-stop bloomer that brings high drama to the back of a sunny border.

Uses & Expert Tips

In the Kitchen & Bar

  • Edible Flowers: The stripped pink & purple flowers are completely edible! Use them to add a interest to a garden salad or a summer cake.
  • Nutritious Leaves: The scalloped leaves are also edible and can be used raw in salads or cooked like spinach; they have a mild, pleasant green flavour.
  • Desserts: Crystallise the striped flowers in sugar for a stunning addition to a botanical dessert table.

Expert Care Tips: Deadheading

To keep the Zebra Mallow show going as long as possible, deadhead the spent flowers regularly. This prevents the plant from setting seed and encourages it to keep pushing out new, striped blooms until the winter cold arrives.
