Stevia is used in the tropics to act as a sweetener to drinks and snacks. The leaves would be dried and ground. It sweetness is approx 300 times sweeter than sucrose. In the UK this herb cannot be sold as a food, but it is an ingredient in stevia based sweetener of which largely constitutes bulking agent with a minimal amount of stevia within each serving. Used in the tropics to add sweetness to drinks and snacks.

- Height 40cm
- Small white flowers in summer
- Requires a sunny sheltered position or glasshouse
- Protect from frost, or treat as an annual if growing outdoors.
