Uses & Expert Tips

In the Kitchen & Bar

  • Wild Tea: Brew the leaves for a potent, invigorating herbal tea, famously good for clearing the senses.
  • Summer Drinks: Use the lilac pom-pom flowers as a stunning edible garnish for iced tea or botanical gin punch.
  • Desserts: The sharp, earthy menthol scent is the perfect culinary match for dark chocolate or rich berry compotes.

Expert Care Tips:

Watermint is a thirsty plant! If you aren’t planting it directly into a pond or bog, keep its pot in a deep saucer of water during the summer months to ensure the leaves stay juicy and the scent remains powerful. To maintain its shape in smaller gardens, simply divide and thin the roots in Spring or Autumn.
