Wild Rocket (Diplotaxis tenuifolia) is a hardy perennial salad leaf with tangy, peppery foliage that packs a proper punch—the ultimate choice for the serious cook. Much more resilient than standard supermarket varieties, this robust Mediterranean herb offers superior flavour and a long harvest window.
As a fabulous cut and come again crop, it produces spicy greens even in the heat of summer. The bright yellow flowers are also edible, adding a colourful, mustardy kick to any dish.

Uses & Expert Tips

In the Kitchen & Bar

  • Use sparingly! Its intense peppery-mustard kick is perfect for cutting through rich cheeses or oily fish.
  • Pizza: Scatter fresh leaves over a hot pizza just before serving for an authentic Italian peppery finish.
  • Pesto: Blitz the leaves with walnuts, parmesan, and oil for a Wild Rocket Pesto with a serious kick.

Expert Care Tips:

  • Harvesting: Wild Rocket is at its best when the leaves are about 10cm long. If you let the leaves get too large, they can become very hot and slightly bitter. Frequent harvesting ensures the plant stays young, tender, and deliciously spicy. You can cut the stems quite low and will encourage a fresh flush of growth.
  • Alternative Planting: Create an alternative Wildlife edible lawn- Wild Rocket would be the perfect choice with yellow flowers on tall stems.
